Heart To Heart Foundation Tip Off
On Monday, February 22, 2010 Ronny Turiaf held a press conference at the Leonard J. Meltzer Boys and Girls Club in Oakland, California to launch his Heart to Heart Foundation. Ronny selected five Bay Area schools and organizations to be the first to receive Automated External Defibrillators (AED) as well as training for 10 staff members, CPR Anytime training for 30 students and maintenance on each defibrillator for the life of the machine. Three of the participating schools have recently experienced a heart related trauma and both school officials and family members were in attendance in honor of the Heart to Heart Foundation’s dedication to this cause. Ronny took a few moments to share his personal experience with heart related illness and explained how it sparked his desire to create the foundation to spread heart health awareness. At the end of the press conference a representative from the City of Oakland formally proclaimed the day, February 22, 2010, as “Ronny Turiaf Day” on behalf of Mayor Ronald V. Dellums in recognition of the dedication Ronny has made to impacting the community. Representatives from the American Heart Association, Assembly Member Jerry Hill, Cardiac Science, the City of Oakland, and Warriors President Robert Rowell were also on hand to show their support and commitment to Ronny and his foundation.
